December Donation Summary

Below are our transactions since our last update at the beginning of November.

A few things that we would like to note:
  1. We intentionally did not push advertisements for our donation platforms until our Account Management portal was live, as we felt that it was delivering a less-than-acceptable experience than what we had prior to our departure. Now that it is live, we will be sure they are more accessible than a pinned post on Discord.
  2. Donations predictably slowed down outside the initial push. This is fine, as we did not want to carry a balance larger than necessary. As we get closer to "running" out, we will be pushing to collect more to keep our services running as-is.
  3. As per our Statement of Intent, we noted we were settling up accounts for staff members who contributed towards our upfront costs. Please note the following payments that are directed for that purpose.
    • The 66.57 AUD will be a recurring monthly cost to one of our systems folks that is paying for additional server side services out of pocket. We are working to get those migrated to PayPal, as they are for our replication configuration and server monitoring functionality. Below are those costs in USD which was then totaled and converted to AUD:
      • Domains - $25.72
      • SSL - $11.97
      • Sendgrid - $9.95
    • The 150USD and 73.29EUR were paid to the same staff member who originally contributed and is now fully settled up.
  4. As noted on our last round (here), we had a very large donation of nearly $2000 USD. This amount is NOT reflected in our total amount remaining as it is currently in a dispute status with the sender and not accessible to our account. The sender requested a refund after they were permanently banned on their main account. We intentionally proceeded as if this donation did not exist so it has not had any impact on our ability to provide service, but we will notify you the final status as it is settled in the next few days.
If you'd like to contribute, our PayPal address is [email protected], while our BTC wallet 1678osiXMQmurLJsmWKQjEKezt56ZRfxjX

January donations and expenses summary

Below are our transactions since our last update at the beginning of December.

Image

As always, there are a few things that we would like to note:
  1. The top two transactions are reimbursement to a staff member who paid for Sendgrid out of his own pocket
  2. As noted in the last month's announcement we had a very large donation that the sender requested a refund on. That matter has now timed out and the money is no longer locked, but we're still not counting on that money being around down the road.
If you'd like to contribute, our PayPal address is [email protected], and our BTC wallet is 1678osiXMQmurLJsmWKQjEKezt56ZRfxjX

If you are donating using PayPal, please do not convert the donation into the default currency (EUR) as we have running expenses in multiple currencies and paying the exchange rate twice serves no one.

Thank you and happy new year!

January-February Donation Summary

Image

This is our donation sheet for January and early February. Unfortunately, someone who initially donated nearly 2000€ after fees in October for the upkeep of our servers was caught account sharing and banned as per our Terms of Use. He instantly filed a chargeback with his card issuing bank. PayPal decided that since our goods are abstract and we can't prove that we have actually shipped him anything in exchange for his money they will not want to contest this chargeback.

There is also an additional payment that is being held and is currently under review by PayPal. This player was caught botting and has been banned, which triggered him to request a chargeback as well. We will give you an update on how that ended up going in our next donation summary.

Since we don't want to rely on any single donation in the fear that it will be contested, we have been trying to keep our balance healthy and above that number, but right now we're a bit short for the upcoming server renewals that are due 17th of February. If we don't get enough donations to cover them, our staff member who has been covering deficits and costs that can't be covered with PayPal thus far will keep the servers running for an additional month out of his own pocket. The blacked out transfer is reimbursements for these expenses mentioned above.

Additionally, since cryptocurrencies have gained in popularity recently, we've added two additional addresses you can donate to. In addition to Bitcoin, we now cover Ethereum and ERC20 tokens, as well as Litecoin. All donation addresses are listed below:

Unfortunately there has been a mistake with the reporting of the donations from early January. The page says "Recent Activity" and it cut off 3 days from the beginning of January which spawned a thread to Reddit from a disgruntled donor. https://www.reddit.com/r/lightshope/com ... ng_it_for/

This is most unfortunate and a user error of the person who compiled this report. There's no foul play or an attempt to deceive the community here, just an unfortunate mistake with reporting and how this particular PayPal page works.

Here is the missing data:

February Donation Summary

Image

This is our donation sheet for February. We've had one contestion from last month, which we also lost by default. We haven't had any ETH/LTC donations, and can't access our BTC holdings temporarily (a minor issue that will be solved) so we do not know if there have been any donations nor can we report about them at this time.

Currently our funds are lower than we'd like at this point in time, but our servers aren't to be renewed until the 17th of this month so we're not in any immediate danger.

Thank you for your continued support. All our donation addresses are listed below:

March Donation Summary

Image

This is our donation sheet for March. We had to ask the community for a helping hand due to the servers costing us a lot of money, and we're extremely happy to see such an increase in donations. Not only that, we've made sure to cut our costs back as far as we felt able to without sacrificing the quality of our service.

With our reduces in monthly costs, we should be able to keep running until at least the merge, after which we will have to evaluate our costs again.

Thank you for your continued support. All our donation addresses are listed below:
